Thank you for visiting my Website!  Briefly, I'll tell you my life has been anything but dull..  I've been painting since I was a child and my parents took me to Cape Cod to see the gorgeous New England shore and Peddlers Village.  That is when I got my first set of oil paints and canvas and fell in love with Art.  Art is like a never-ending love pursuit in progress.....

Elementary training primarily was in the Northeast at Baum Art School in Pennsylvania. Later, I studied Art at the University in Southern California at Long Beach.

Being single most of my life and a single mom at a young age forced me to dive head first into the work force.  I was a work-a-holic.  With little to no support from my son's deadbeat father, I had to strive for excellence in the workforce.   I attended Colleges over the years whenever I could and acquired many designations and degrees.  I began in Real Estate in Ormond Beach, Florida.  Moved to Orlando and became a Broker and opened my own Real Estate Company.  Owned and managed many homes and apartments and commercial business'.  Eventually, simultaneously, I owed and operated a furniture and appliance store, restaurant/lounge, began a Masonry Construction Company in Orlando (had 32 men working for me) building additions to homes in Bay Hills and stone fire places as my men were true Artists with stone.  Built a Hospital in Daytona and the Juvenile Detention Center in New Symerna Beach in addition to owning my own Real Estate company (a real estate Broker for 42 years in Florida), I bought an acre of Commercial Property and managed that along with 11 apartments and 5 rental homes.  I employed hundreds of people in my life time.  Loved to provide homes and apartments for many and helped many through government programs to keep their homes.  I fed, clothed, housed, employed and provided entertainment for thousands in the different businesses I owned.  Never a greedy person.   I could stretch a dollar to do more than anyone I knew.  As long as I could provide a good home for my boys, pay my bills, taxes, had food to eat, clothes to wear  I was happy.   Very happy to help as many people as I could possibly help....  I was very generous. My boys grew so fast and had appetites you wouldn't believe.  I bought the restaurant so I could be sure of feeding them.  Ha, ha..  True.

After my boys left home for college and whatever challenges suited them I decided it was silly to burn the candle from both ends... That's when I asked God for guidance...  It came in the form I never would have guessed...   I was invited to visit a girl friend in Sarasota, Florida.  What a breath of fresh air.... Sarasota was!  It didn't take long for me to sell or give away all the Orlando holdings and buy a home on the beloved Siesta Key.  I had found "Paradise" at 117 Columbus Blvd and a second home at 644 Tremont on the Grand Canal.  My name was Woodham then.  My x-husband, (a short marriage),  was President of the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce.  A fine man but it just didn't work out for us.  Yep, Siesta Key was paradise for a while.  I vowed to follow my love of art.  The magnificent white quartz crystal sands of Siesta Key was my muse...  Daily, I would walk the beautiful, and so inspiring sandy beaches of Siesta.... I began to paint and my work began to sell!  I do believe in miracles... !

One must simplify from the confusion of the world to understand what God has intended for us.  I simplified my life and devoted most of my time to the finer things in life.  I became a cosmetologist and opened up my own Skin Care Salon... focused on non-surgical face lifts.  (I like to make things beautiful..).    Eventually, had my artwork in 5 Art Galleries and delighted my painting were selling!   Thrilled at a good beginning doing what I loved to do...

Not long after I moved to Siesta Key I began to travel extensively throughout the United States and South America and Europe. Specifically, influenced by the French Impressionists.  I studied the works of the Masters in St. Paul de Vance, Nice, Paris and several other towns along the French Riviera.  Later, throughout Rome, Salerno, and Naples in Italy that emboldened my style.  Then there was the fabulous Monte Carlo coast, Monico, Cannes, Barcelona.   My favorite was "all" of it!

I first came to Sarasota in 1986 (32 years ago) and bought my first home a block away from Siesta Key Beach...   Oh, it was wonderful seeing those waves crashing onto the beaches by my home.  Siesta Key was my inspiration to paint....  Back then I had my Artwork for sale on Palm Avenue and The Kress Gallery downtown above Patrick's.  The Starving Artist sold some of my paintings, too, along with the Eye of the Beholder in the Sarasota Square Mall.  Open Space Gallery in Pennsylvania also sold my paintings.  Gracie Lawrence Galleries in Delray sold my Art as did Palm Beach Gallery in Palm Beach.   I remember getting a note from an Art Dealer from Connecticut that bought a painting of mine in a Sarasota Gallery and sold it in her Connecticut Gallery for thousands!  The note said I should never change my style...

(For several years I designed and created my own Stained Glass Art, too.  Loved working with stained glass.  But, unfortunately due to my weak lungs Doctors said I could no longer solder with lead.  The Mole Hole on St. Armands sold many of my Stained Glass mermaid boxes along with other venues.  Very happy about that).

Due to circumstances beyond my control and the economy I have not had my work in Galleries for a long time.  Been very busy doing other things. Trying to survive.  My health began to fail but tried to work part-time jobs as long as possible; until, my COPD, Asthma and Allergies no longer permitted me to work even part-time.  Have done selective Art commissions but haven't sold anything in Galleries for years. I am hoping and wondering if this Website could be my Gallery??   Time will tell.....

In the past few years I've done feature films!  Can't believe it...  In my senior years all kinds of miracles were coming true!  Oh, no staring roles but I've had brief talking parts and been an extra in nine (9) feature films with movie stars like Nick Nolte, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Stratham, Ed Lauter, Armand Assante, Anna Paquin, Matt Dillon and Naomi Watts to name a few. What fun...  Luckily, the few days it took to do the films my Lungs did not betray me.  Only, after the TV commercial where I had to hold and kiss a Persian Cat did I have to stop completely doing any kind of film as I became very ill and developed pneumonia because of my weak lungs.   I am highly allergic to cats as much as I love them and all animals.   (I stopped doing films about two years ago.  My COPD just wouldn't permit any long hours there might be in a day.  A little dream came true for two years and I am so very grateful for that).  Thank you Lord!  I do believe in little miracles.  Thank you Jesus.

Another miracle a few years ago,.. I wrote a book!  It was published on Amazon and made #1 Best New Releases in less than two weeks!!   "Peru Raw Awakening"!  Thousands have been downloaded and sold all over the World.  Not a Best Seller but it did great for a first book, I thought.  Ask the book stores for it..  They will order it if it is not in their inventory.... or simply go to Amazon website to see and/or buy.  Only, make a few dollars now and then from the sales.  Nothing to boast about but another little dream come true!   People all over the world have actually bought and read my book.  I do believe in miracles!

The beginning of my senior years (for two (2) Senior years) I had the "Best two Years of My Life".....  However, since my health is ever failing I've been in a financial fog.  Trying to survive day to day.... Can't work even a part time job to supplement social security, no energy, can't breathe, get exhausted easily.  Actually, loose my voice after a good hour or so of speaking....  Book and paintings are not selling from this website and I'm not sure what the future holds for me?  My homes on Siesta Key are long gone.  As a matter of fact the new owners tore them both down and now stands multi-million dollar duplex.  I had to move into an old rental house I bought years ago,... and that's fine.  It's kind of a jungle with sinking floors... Hey, as long as you have the basics it's more than the poor people in Europe have, I tell myself.   I count my blessings.  I've learned to make do on a small Social Security budget.

Just got word from Sarasota County that I must soon connect to the Sarasota Sewer System... OMG.  A huge cost to connect because I put an addition on my property when I brought my Mother to live with me.  Plus, taxes will increase and plus another monthly bill for usage, plus more monthly fees.  Gosh, has the Roman Empire returned?  I was very happy with my little well maintained and contained septic tank but County says it is mandatory to hook-up and hire a licensed plumber to connect to the line... more $$$'s.   The government seems so prejudice against its Senior Citizens unless you are wealthy.  You think you can manage then, boom... they hit you with another greedy charge.   Why?  Because they need your money to pay their old debts and they need money for more future "Big Developments" which are not needed (Their towering infernos are desecrating the ambiance that "was" Sarasota..  Sarasota County is not considerate of aging retired people unless you are rich.  It's not such a Paradise anymore.... Heck, if my car breaks down I'll have to resort to a bicycle to do my grocery shopping.   My only income is SS.  Since I am unable to work I've put my Real Estate Broker's license and Cosmetology license and all licenses Licenses "inactive".  One hope is my Artwork may sell??

Daily, I find much "JOY" from feeding the beautiful Florida birds that are becoming extinct....  They live in my yard, in the trees in my subdivision.   The Canopy Tree Streets where I live is the habitat of these gorgeous birds and other wild life..  The County is threatening to destroy  the habitat of these birds and wildlife struggling to survive.. and our Quality of Life by destroying my neighbors and my property with their mandatory Sewers!  I've started a Petition to try to Save Our Canopy Trees and Stop the County from desecrating our environment.. and oh, Lord, the cost to us Seniors on fixed incomes.  I'll bet 90% + of the people I talk to agree they do NOT want our streets torn up.  I've met with several County Administrators and one comment pushed me to action... The Director said the County may have been over-zealous with their mapping of where the Sewers should be ...   That encouraged me to get the signatures on a Petition.   The Director promised he will arrange a meeting in a few months to consider our opinions...   Wish me luck!  I've been a hermit with my illness for so long... but this issue has spurred me on to actively stand up and speak out and organize a neighborhood collision Petition to Stop the County from destroying our environment.  We are all trying to survive along with the birds and remaining wild life!  I thank God for the help of His Angels who are helping me with the energy to take this to fruition...

After much work and hundreds of mailings to gather those that agree, we've had two (2) meetings with the County.  The final one 4/5/18 concluded the sewers will continue to expand their grid (like it or not).  The County presented many extensive research projections to help us understand what they've done to correct the Pollution of Phillipi Creek and all waters of Sarasota County.  Our Water & Sewer Director, Scott Schroyer, was very kind and considerate to elaborate, "We all want Clean Water".  Of course, how can anyone say "no" to that.  The County did promise to try to keep costs and destruction of Canopy trees, wild life and effect upon our Life Style to a minimum...  They will probably use the "Vacuum System"..  When I asked "When" this will begin in our neighborhood Scott would not commit to a time frame but suggested I check back with him next year and he might have a more exact time.  He said right now it is all on "PAUSE".  One girl from County Staff took me to the side and said it will not hit our neighborhood for another 7 - 9 years.  (Which is great!  I'll probably be dead by then...).   I must say everyone at the county meetings were very considerate, respectful and politically polite to us and I do want to thank them.

Financially, there is "hope" for Seniors trying to survive in Sarasota...as an Amendment was passed a few years ago that will relieve Seniors from paying Property Taxes.  It is called Amendment II.  It passed the State by majority of Voters!!  "BUT" you have to qualify.  #1.  You must own your property for 25 years.  2#. You must be 65 yrs. old.  3#.  Your property value must qualify.  As of next March 3, 2018 I will qualify for all of the above!!!  However, when I called the County to ask how to apply the woman there said, "Oh, Sarasota County is not going to go along with Amendment II".    "What", I asked?  But the State of Florida Voters won the approval of Amendment II by a vast majority!!  The lady at the County repeated Sarasota County does not have to permit this, and is NOT at this time????  What, ....!?  What happened to Voters "Votes" counting to determine realistically just laws?   I have no idea what the future will be?  May be time for me to protest this action or I should say lack of action, too, next year?  I'll let you know when and where to meet in front of the County Building downtown calmly and quietly with signs to protest.  All those that agree with me are welcome to bring your signs, lawn chairs and join me.  I'll let you know when after I check on a few more thing....   Do I believe in miracles happening?  You bet I do....  It just takes a bit longer sometimes...  Loosing health and wealth is not a picnic but I do believe in miracles....  In the meantime, hills and valleys of life march on.... so must we.  We must overcome any obstacles and keep a good positive attitude.  There will always be Angels to help.  You can count on His Angels to help.   Thank you, Jesus...
